Thin Cam

Last day of the month! yipes!

So a while back I got this ad for a free "Thin Digital Camera" just for signing up for this Road Side Assistance Insurance for a FREE month. After looking into it a bit, i thought it might be worth while to sign up, get the camera and then cancel the service... (since i already have Road Side Insurance.)

You have to be very diligent with these things though, or you'll get sucked into paying a monthly fee for something you don't even use... so i wrote on my calendar the #s to cancel - and did all the little hoops they requested to get the camera. It arrived a few weeks ago and I was actually surprised that it came with connectors, case, flash, batteries... everything. It's the most basic of digital cameras, but the true test is the quality...

Here's one of the first snaps:

Not too shabby! :)

chop chop

I got a long overdue haircut today... went and tried out a neighborhood salon that looked inviting. It wasn't super fancy, but the folks there seemed to know what they were doing. It was fairly inexpensive which was good, but also without the perks... like... blowdrying your hair after the cut. But the most important thing is that my hair got the trim it needed, it's still layered and i can still put it in a pony tail if need be. :) And I will probably go back to them - and not have to drive to my old stylist!

Also did a lot of house cleaning today... which is good. The dustballs and hairballs were taking over. The weather was so nice too that we could have all the windows open to let fresh air in... Happy home is a happy jen.

lazy days are good...

Ah, finally a weekend to rest!

I finally finished one of my mini video projects. I went to Hong Kong in 2001 - and had footage that i wanted to create mini 2-3 minute "chapters" from. I was on a roll with 3 chapters and an Intro, but after that - with work and other distractioins... i just never got farther than that. I had planned out 15 chapters, with a written out game plan and everything. But nearly 4 years later, i finally kicked myself into gear to finish what i started. I worked every night after work to do about 1-2 chapters and by the 11th one, i realized I just needed to condense my last 3 chapters into one. PHEW! All done! So glad i can now archive this and move on!

Investigating "delivery dinners" lately. My coworker introduced me to the idea... where a company creates Healthy food for you and you just get it delivered everyday. It can just be dinner a few times a week even. At first i thought that seemed too fancy for me. It's like delivery butler service - just the food part. But if the price is not too crazy, then there's a value to eating healthy and convenience! I don't belong to a gym anymore, and the foods I make aren't incredibly creative... So the investigation begins. Good Food, delivery in my area, and not crazy expensive. Let's see if something turns up... :)

Here's my interesting picture of the day:

Tortoise and his buddy, Baby Hippo.

If my turtles get this big, i'm in big trouble. :)

White Cheese Puffs

Well, it's monday again. Munching on white cheese puffs while deciding what to do for lunch.

This weekend was another snow weekend for me... A friend organized a trip with a Cabin in Big Bear. Besides all the dead animal heads on the walls, it was a really cozy 16 person cabin. :) I love the fact that it only takes 2 hours to get there from LA... it makes a 'weekend getaway' that much more enjoyable. (However, I just found out that the half of our group that headed home later in the day, ended up taking hours and hours just sitting in traffic to get out of big bear. We got lucky!)

We snowboarded on Saturday and that was okay... but it was definitely not as fun as the weekend before. The sun was beating down some warm rays - making all the ice slushy and slippery... so poor beginners like me are trying to just keep from sliding head first into the snow. I had a nasty fall right on my tailbone that i thought i'd be feeling for weeks after... but looks like I am going to be okay... Only slightly sore today. (Stretches before are KEY!)

But will this warmish weather last? Are there any other storms ahead for southern california? Only time will tell...

Luke, I am your hash brown...

This is way too cute.

Hey, so what's up with the downpour of rain one week and 80 degree weather the next? I guess i shouldn't be complaining... :)

Watch out below!!

So this weekend was pretty fun. We trekked to Big Bear on a gorgeous Sunday morning and finally got to take our Snowboards out to play...

I was rather good...

(What do you mean that's not me and i'm not blond? - Is that even a girl you ask?)

We went to Bear Mountain for a half day (that's long enough for an out-of-shape me!) and I was daring... I decided to go on the LOW INTERMEDIATE run. wHOOooohooo!

Actually, the scariest part is getting off that stupid lift seat when you get to the top. No matter how cool I try to look out there, trying to get off the lift seat and sliding to safety is just beyond me. What i need is a set up that let's you practice getting off those lifts. One little area where a seat just moves back and forth and i just practice getting off it. Otherwise it's like 2 hours between practices when you're actually on the slopes... (because you have to wait in lines, and then get down the mountain...)

ANYWAY... back to my breakthrough... i went on the LOW intermediate and there was one that went all the way to the TOP of the mountain. And I was okay coming down, but it's a WORKOUT! My thighs were burning from trying to go down at a nice and easy speed... so i had to stop and chill on the sidelines to give my legs a rest. But I'm pretty excited i moved past the Bunny Slopes and joined all the other 9 year olds in the Low Intermediate runs!

Snow & Moshi pillows

Now that the snow has visited our mountains, it's time to plan snowboarding! I bought a board off my friend because she didn't think she used it enough... and then she ended up going snowboarding a gazillion more times than i did that year! (Okay, i went maybe 2 times total, so that's not too hard to beat.)

This year, i'm hoping to go ... at least 2 times. :)

I have one of those Moshi pillows that are really squishy - but i'm paranoid that it will burst. So i was thinking to make my own little pillowcase for it... but with a needle and thread instead of a sewing machine... I wonder if that will hold? :) I guess i'll find out. But first... i need to find the perfect material! :)

Fuzzballs

Well, the chinchillas are back with their owners now... sigh...

BUT not without a little video clip to remind us of just how CUTE they are...

Gross Food Alert

For all you penny-pinching workie bees out there that bring food in to work so that you can be nerdy and work from your desk as your microwaveable low-cost lunch heats in the office pantry...

STAY AWAY from this one:

It sounds impressive...
LEAN POCKETS Brand Ultra Supreme Pizza
Zesty sausage, pepperoni and green peppers in a tasty pizza sauce smothered with mozzarella cheese wrapped in a soft whole grain crust. Only 6 grams of fat, no trans fat, and 12 net carbs. An excellent source of protein and fiber.

And then you TASTE it and it tastes like they used the same materials to make this as they did to package it!

Since there's 2 in here... the second one I must eat from center out... because the inside pocket filling is bearable.. but once you get a big bite of just the breading... it's borderline inedible.

If you want to diet - by being so grossed out you don't want to eat - here's the product for you. :)

USC: Undeniably Superior Champions

Well, USC once again clobbered the competition... even amidst gobblings about Oklahoma being this amazing, unbeatable team.

USC 55 - Oklahoma 19

The losers better go home as Sooners as they can... :)

On another note... I guess we'll be Chinchilla-sitting for some friends for a few days... i better go look up Chinchilla online tips ...

I got a pair, so now it can go out of style...

Last day of my mini "vacation". sigh...

Oh well. Can't be on vacation forever... or else, what fun is that?

Did a bit of shopping today and although it's one more thing i don't really NEED, it keeps popping up... and it was on sale, and the store ACTUALLY had my size still... AND it was already 3 days after the sale started...

I figured it to be a sign that I was destined to buy it.

Now that it's in my possession... and on my feet as i speak... it will probably go completely out of style now and everyone will say "That was so 5 minutes ago..." Oh well... it's like wearing fluffy clouds on your feet... can't beat that.

I also got a goose down vest from Banana Republic that's super cute and even after being on sale, was too expensive, but i splurged, plus i had 2 gift cards to use to chip away at the price. :) I figured, if i wear it almost everyday, it will pay itself off? :)

Hope everyone else's 2005 is going great so far! And USC will win the Orange Bowl tomorrow against Oklahoma... go Trojans! :)
