No one's cracking up here...

I saw a sight today that shocked me and then saddened me. My poor car's windshield grew an ugly spider crack on its windshield. It's one of those things that makes you want to find a big bandaid for it, until you have a chance to go to the doctor.

So tomorrow i'll do some price comparisons and have someone swipe windshields for me. I don't know why it feels so weird though. It's like I'm about to put a glass eye on my car or something... it feels like it's never going to be the same again...
and yeah, it doesn't help to spend so much money and not go anywhere or eat anything yummy from it. :p

Raining hamsters and parakeets

Well, it looks like it will be another rainy week ahead for Southern California.

I vote that we have a 'work from home' week - think of all the accidents avoided and time saved because you're not stuck in traffic!

Whoa, he's back.

Going to see Constantine tonight...

The movie looks pretty cool... hopefully all the cool effects weren't just crammed in the trailers...

And Keanu is still mighty cute...

Wear Pink Day!

Happy V-day everyone!

Weekend Recap:
This Saturday, Herman took me out for my first Whale Watching experience. The boat ride was about 4 hours total - barely made it without getting seasick! (Took meds) It was really cool though, and even though the whales tried hard to elude us, we eventually spotted their steamy poofs of air towards the end of the trip - and we followed them on our boat like crazy (but stealthlike) paparazzi. The folks running the tour were very 'courteous' not to disrupt the Whale's journey - but they couldn't help the fact that there was at least one participant screaming "whooo hooo!!!" everytime they popped out of the water. (sorry, that was me.)

The next day I took Herman to Body World's 2 at the California Science Museum. It was interesting, and I didn't get as grossed out as I thought I would by seeing REAL 'plasticized' human bodies with their muscles, tendons, veins, organs, skin, nerves... in tact. Yeah, sure sounds pretty gross to me now. We saw an IMAX movie about the Human Body, just before... which I highly recommend. You get to follow this family around and see that as they do normal things, you then zoom in to see what their bodies are doing... and it just looks incredible! Ever see "Inner Space"? Sorta like that - but magnified on an IMAX screen - and a bit more scientific!

Happy New Year, take 2!

Being Chinese, I get to have 2 New Years every year!

So if the normal New Year didn't start off too great, well... here you go, a second chance! :)

Second chance to think of New Year's Resolutions. Second chance to say, "Let's start this year right!" Practice makes perfect...

Year of the Roooooster!

So here are some resolutions for me:
1) Take more time to enjoy life and less time stressing about it
2) Travel to at least one far away place (300+ miles preferred)
3) Make a better effort to keep up with friends I don't see often
4) Stay healthy and don't gain weight

Pretty achievable i think... :)

pain in the neck

Here's something you probably take for granted... looking over your shoulder without grimacing in sudden pain!

This morning I was fine... it wasn't until driving to work and trying to look left before switching lanes, and feeling a surprising pinch in my neck! It's just a constant reminder that we're not getting YOUNGER. >sigh<

What do ostriches do when they get kinks in their necks?

Chinese New Year's is just around the corner. Went to a celebration dinner last night for it... but nothing much planned for the day itself. There's a 'superstition' that you're not supposed to clean that day - or else you might sweep away the year's good fortune or the PG-13 version... that you could sweep away the life of a family member! Some people don't want to believe superstitions... but whether you believe it or not... you don't want to risk it right? I even read you're not supposed to cry on New Years or you'll cry all year long. There's a bunch more - and it just makes me nervous about the whole day. My suggestion: Give hugs all day, that way you'll get hugs all year long. :)

Metal Mouth

I feel very fortunate that my dentist visits are not traumatizing for me. I'm not sure why there are some people that must be pryed from under tables to be taken to the dentist... and I barely remember the experience i had when i had to get 7 fillings for all the cavities i've had.

Today i had one of those fillings replaced. Gums are numbed for the injection. They inject the nerves of the tooth with a needle. A quarter of your face loses all feeling and you sit through some not-so-nice drilling sounds and have all these weird tubes hanging out of your mouth. That's not so bad... (or am i just psycho?)

Also squeezed in a fun game of Ultimate Frisbee at lunchtime today. Since i quit the gym, I get almost NO exercise, so these are always a treat. Three of us drove out to La Canada and joined a pre-existing club of random folks who play every wednesday. Pretty cool people... some a bit too serious about the game than others... but overall a fun group and worthy of another visit! As long as the weather stays this nice...
