Sunny day.... check!

It's gorgeous outside today! I typed "gorgeous day" in Google Images and nothing interesting sprang up in the first 5 pages so i gave up looking.

My car has been begging for a car wash for weeks. It was parked near a tree for 2 weeks, so it gave little tree bugs plenty of time to settle on it. There was even a little cobweb egg sac on one of my windows... ick!! So today I finally got around to it...

And don't forget peoples... Mother's day is coming up next weekend. If you're mailing out your cards and gifts like me... ya better prep it now if it's going to make it in time! :)

If it was warmer, I may have gone here instead...

head still in the clouds

Is it wrong to center your life around vacations? Technically I just took one, but I'm already trying to figure out what will be the latest and greatest adventure to start planning. Big or small, a trip is a trip. :)

So far there's 2 in sight. One is to go Beach Camping at a State Park. And everyone who tries, knows it's always near impossible to get a good weekend reservation. I booked a date in late September. That was the earliest weekend I could snag.

The other is a Grand Canyon trip. That one is slowly materializing into a Raft adventure... and if we're lucky... we'll get some awesome pictures of crazy rock formations.

But hopefully before all that, I'll enjoy the more 'normal' Summer activities... like visiting friends at Venice Beach and eating 99cent Pizza Slices. Or walking in flip flops to Starbucks with my Muvo blasting Jack Johnson and chilling out on their patio which will miraculously have no smokers present while i'm there sipping my mocha frappachino.

Going home in daylight... how nice.

I could get used to this. :)

Had a meeting away from my work, and when they end towards the end of the day, it's easier to go home then to try to backtrack to work just to leave again. So, usually, by the time i get to my "unwind" point, it's like past midnight, because I came home so late. But today... i'm unwinded by 10:59pm. That's so EARLY! :)

Here's my ULTIMATE CONSUMER moment.

I am listening to my new Lifehouse CD I bought at Circuit City. It helped me get through 3 sinks full of dirty dishes. Two weeks ago, I would have said "Lifehouse Who?" But last week I happened to watch an episode of Smallville, and a random band was playing at their "Prom". I really liked the band! And lo and behold, the credits of the show declared Lifehouse was the band. One week later, I am bopping my head to a brand new band that came from nowhere.

If not for smallville, my dishes may never have gotten done.... :p

Blurry, baby-filled 2005 so far...

Are we really coming up to the last week of April? The year seems to be going by so quickly it's all a blur!

It's been a running start ever since returning from our trip that seems a gazillion years ago... Only thing that keeps it fresh is the fact that i'm encoding the 4 tapes i videocam'd onto a single DVD. I'm capturing tape 3 now, so I should be done with my finished DVD by the weekend.

CONGRATS to my buddy since Elementary school... Michelle... who just had her first Baby BOY! Pretty incredible stuff people. And Congrats to my other high school friend Rachel who's expecting her second! And my friend Gynae who had her second about a month ago! It's the year of the Babies!

Meanwhile, I'm just hoping to survive the onslaught of projects coming my way at work. I'm already trying to figure out what my next 'vacation' will be so i have a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. This year will hopefully have more camping trips... but what sounds really fun is a Grand Canyon get-away. Found a few potential trips, and since a bunch of friends a celebrating their big 3-0 this year (H included) - i'm hoping they like a Grand Trip to celebrate their Grand birthdays... :)

Okay... better head to work now... (sigh) Is it friday yet?

i forgot to watch!

I was actually home from work on time... and I forgot that LOST was on!

why me-e-e-e!

But i've missed at least 3 weeks, and I sneaked a peek on the site and read about what happened last week... so I guess I'll just wait for the DVD. (sigh)

I can't believe it's been over a week since my trip. Since coming back (and going back to work), it seems like all of these projects just avalanched in. I'm glad we're getting more work - must mean my team and I are doing something right... but that also means working long hours, eating lunch at my desk, coming home late and STILL bringing work home to stay sane for the next day. It's 9:47pm and i'm 'procrastinating' from 'work' that i brought home to hopefully complete tonight. If i'm lucky.

I never did have a chance to blog about my trip. So here's are the cliff notes. My trip started in the middle of a Saturday night. By the time we arrived and jumped over the time difference, it was Monday.

We launched into Beijing and was introduced to our new 47 member family for the duration of our 10 day tour. I've been to Beijing before, so I was lucky enough to visit the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven and Tiananmen Square for a second time. Then we flew to Shanghai, drove to Suzhou & Hangzhou, and returned to Shanghai. The last portion of our trip was in Hong Kong.

Suzhou's highlights were it's gorgeous landscapes, canals, and as the tour guide kept repeating, "It's pretty girls" I heard later that this stems from common hiring practices in the city - that for many jobs only women with a certain look (tall & thin) and college degrees were hired. We also traveled to a 'Silk Factory' here.

Hangzhou's highlights was it's amazing West Lake (a real life painting), it's award winning Green Tea farms, and - a craze of street peddlers armed with faux Louis Vuitton, Coach, Prada and Gucci purses.

Shanghai had an almost Vegas feel with all it's larger than life neon-lit buildings. It was surging with people, and cars and more people. And as much as i LOVE bargain shopping, it was in a shanghai outdoor shopping area, that i almost lost total interest! Why? Imagine stopping at a vendor's booth, looking at necklaces, and suddenly a stranger comes up to you with a flyer containing other necklaces, urging you to visit their booth. Okay, so you leave and decide to look at T-shirts. Boom, someone's at your side begging you to check out the tshirts at the other end of the aisle instead. Can you imagine? You could just feel the stress emitting from tourists trying to buy nice souvenirs without getting mauled.

But it was a lot of fun riding a Rickshaw bike through a Suzhou - and riding Subways is amazingly easy and fun. If only LA could have a subway, where you had a card in your wallet, it scans you in, you wait 2 minutes or less for a subway going forward or backwards towards your destination... and a few breezy moments and you're there!

Hong Kong is almost like my international home. My grandparents and many cousins and relatives are there. So, that portion of my vacation was great, but not sight-seeing filled. But that's okay, because HK is just fun to be at. It's always bustling and busy. Always delicious food at every corner and something fun to buy. And you can speak english, and it's cool. And for the youth of HK, it seems to be the hip thing to do... (speak in english).

Okay, some good procrastination has happened here. It's about 10:30 now and I better at least make an attempt to finish some work.

If it had TIVO, i wouldn't have missed Lost. Grr. Maybe it's time to take the plunge. Can you believe I don't even have cable? (As my TV buzzes because the rabbit ears need adjusting) Okay... back to work, back to work! :)
