Go for the GRAND

Back to 12 hour days at work... (argh)

But at least there are pictures to remind me not to forget the life outside the windows of work...

It was sad to come back from vacation to hear about the Hurricane disaster... i'll be donating through my work tomorrow, who will match my contribution. You can also donate through Network For Good.

Time to Rhyme

I'm at work and it's late.
The sky is in a dark state.
But i'm not upset,
as cheerful as one can get...
Because my weekend starts tomorrow night,
And it doesn't end till Tuesday's light.

scrutinizing the "ant" in this rant

There are ants roaming around on my bathroom counters. There's nothing there for them to eat, so it's actually quite a sad sight. They're just little moving targets for my bunched up toilet paper wads to squish them.

I used Lysol to spray one that was wandering near the sink drain - and unsurprisingly it stopped moving shortly after. That was this morning. Tonight i came home and noticed it wasn't there... but i saw another ant carrying around what i assume to be "lysol" ant.

Now - is this ant carrying around the dead lysol ant because it was his friend and now he's trying to find a good resting place for it? Do ants have such feelings? Or are ants cannabalistic and he's just happy to find 'food'?

burning... out.. must ... take .. vacation... soon...

I feel like there was a point in March where i just put my head down like a battering ram, and started charging forward... and suddenly it's midway through August and I'm exhausted. I'm definitely due for some Vacation time... and i have some quick getaways to look forward to...

But with these GAS prices! You should just calculate the cost to drive to work in one day. I have a 24 mile round trip. I get about 25 miles per gallon... So each day i'm spending almost 3 bucks to drive to work. Can you imagine if your daily drive costed you $10 bucks or more? Like SUV drivers? Scary.

What's scarier is that there is some warped (and probably mental) kid in San Jose who went on a Duck killing rampage at a Car Wash... and it was caught on the security cameras. He zooms around in his red car, running over the poor ducks and even grabbing some by the neck and slamming it against his car. Sick. Just SICK.

Frantic Gorilla Waves & a Huggable Pug

It's about 10pm now, and i got home from work about 1 hour ago. Yeah, there's been a lot of 9:30am to 9:30pm shifts at work for me lately. The work just piles up and the moment you take the time to do things like run to the bathroom or reheat your frozen entree - you're several tasks behind again somehow.

How many of you out there can relate to the never ending lists of "To Do" at work. And you find that list isn't enough - so it becomes a list of "To Do Now" , "To Do A Little Later" and "To Do After the other To Dos Get Done - (Yeah Right)" How many of you work so feverishly, that you don't notice that you haven't really taken enough water cooler breaks, and your mouth gets crusty with bunched up lipstick or remnants of your quick desktime lunch? How many get most of their work done in the last 2 hours while most everyone else has gone home, and you can finally work in peace? How many of you work in buildings that have movement sensors - and when most of the office has vacated but you - you find you must do frantic gorilla waves with your arms to get the lights to turn back on?

Alas, those are still the "fun" parts of my job. There are definitely aspects of my job that I could toss to the curb - the top one is working with people that just aren't nice people in general. People who have so much hate in their system that you can only hope they realize life is too short to waste so much energy on blaming other people and finding fault in everything but themselves & their actions.

But enough about those goons. Looks like i've had over 1000 visitors to this site! So, discounting the 600 that's probably ME, I'd say that's a cool little milestone for this blog to accomplish. I do wonder just who really reads this anyway. I know i keep up with my buddies by reading their blogs. It's kind of non personal, but then sometimes it's even MORE personal because you don't normally call up your friends and say, "Hey i wanna just chat about my long day at work and the little quirks you find when you sit at a desk too long!"

Alright... enough random babbling.

Here's a GREAT blog site all about a cute little Pug's adventures. IF I didn't have to work for a living, i'd just buy a puppy and roam the world taking pictures of it too. Now THAT is THE life.
