To TIVO or Not to Tivo?

Yes, it's true.

Despite working for Entertainment Industry for the past 8 years, I have always just survived off Rabbit Ears for my TV viewing.

So I think I'm finally going to look into Cable or Satellite (probably Cable) - but it probably won't be worth it without something to record the shows I'm never home for...

Tivo is the 'brand' we've all heard of... but there seems to be lots of pros and cons. Pros - it records for you things you like and might like. Cons - Expensive and if the company goes away in a few years, we're stuck with expensive metal.



It'd be GREAT to have the ability to burn to DVD... probably the BIGGEST draw to stepping up in my TV Watching Technology...

Anyone have thoughts on this or are happy with their Cable Recording Decision?
